George A. Ewart
AIA | Principal in Charge
George Armour Ewart serves by virtue of his work as an architect, community builder, leader, and mentor. He is dedicated to evolving architecture and design in his community through organizational leadership, civic service, and the fostering of diverse connections.
With decades of architectural planning and design experience, the team at GAEA has completed more than 3,500 projects across 16 states with George’s guidance. But his interest in building up people and communities extends far beyond his own firm…
Over the past 27 years, he’s served in leadership roles for organizations like AIA, Leadership Knoxville, UTK’s College of Architecture + Design, the Associated Builders & Contractors of Greater Tennessee, UTK Chancellor’s Associates and multiple programs that affect local zoning, planning, and construction.
Personally and professionally, George is passionate about using his knowledge and experience to connect underprivileged youth and families with the resources they need to succeed, whether that be through the spaces he helps create, internships at his firm, participation in local events, or his many volunteer efforts.
When he’s not working with his team on design-builds, George enjoys smoking meats at his BBQ restaurant on Sutherland Ave, cheering on the Vols, and spending time with his wife, Cindy, and their (now grown) children.
