Tommy Wade
RA | Project Architect
An early passion for history led Tommy to discover his love of architecture in middle school. From visiting historic sites in Washington, D.C. and Virginia with his parents, to exploring NYC, Chicago, and San Francisco with his wife and children, he has long enjoyed studying architectural treasures.
Since graduating from the University of Tennessee School of Architecture over three decades ago, Tommy has become a detail-oriented architectural planner. Like many architects, he values studying and shaping the forms of buildings, but he never loses sight of the fact that buildings must first and foremost withstand the elements and the challenges of everyday life.
While residential architecture has always drawn his interest outside of work, Tommy’s career has been rooted in commercial projects. He has worked on a major addition to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and several museum exhibitions in Memphis. He served as project manager for the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and the Gray Fossil Site and Museum in East Tennessee, along with numerous buildings on the UT campuses in both Memphis and Knoxville. His portfolio also includes retail centers, professional office buildings, climate-controlled storage facilities, and movie theaters.
