Beyond the Blueprints & Building Sites: How We Give Back to Our Community

The holiday season is in full effect and we’re finding joy in more than just designing spaces.

While we share many of the same morals and goals as professionals, the GAEA team is a melting pot of unique interests and diverse backgrounds. It’s this uniqueness in each member of our team that allows us to go out into our community and make the greatest impact—not just as architects and designers, but as people who value giving back to other people.

Beyond the blueprints and building sites, our talented team takes pride in fostering a culture of compassion and community involvement that extends beyond the holiday season. Keep reading to learn more about what we’ve been up to in our personal time.

Giving Back to Those Close to Our Hearts

Our commercial projects define our professional identity, but it’s our collective commitment to giving back as individuals that truly sets us apart in work and life. We’re “people people,” and we’re grateful to be working alongside each other in our community—whether that’s through architecture or our individual involvement in charitable organizations and causes like these:

Highlighting Greatness: Whitney Joins Special Olympics Board

Recently, one standout member of our team, interior designer Whitney White, took on a new role as a member of the Special Olympics Tennessee Young Professionals Board. Whitney’s passion for creating inclusive and supportive physical environments aligns seamlessly with the national organization’s mission to transform lives through the joy of sport, as well as the values we hold dear at our firm. We’re extremely proud of her for going the extra mile to help improve accessibility for those with intellectual disabilities and enhance lives in our community.

Leading in Architecture & Beyond

As we reflect on the year and celebrate our teams’ dedication to giving back, we’d like to take a moment to also acknowledge GAEA founder and president, George Ewart, for making local history as the first architect to join the University of Tennessee Knoxville Alumni Board in 40 years.

George’s commitment to giving back with whatever resources he has makes him a valuable addition to the board, and we’re excited to see how he leads the future of the profession and the community through this new role within the university.
